Jason Belden

Vioin Teacher

For more than thirty years, Jason Belden has performed, recorded and taught music in Melbourne. Initially he studied the recorder from 1985, he then changed instruments and studied the violin and viola with Mr E. Mogilevsky for eleven years and music theory and composition with Dr. T. Reiner for three years. After having been awarded the Batchelor of Music degree from Monash University, Jason proceeded upon a career as a sessional musician and a private music teacher.

Throughout the 1990s Jason was the principal violist for the New Monash Orchestra and String Sinfonia, Heidelburg Symphony Orchestra and a member of Russian Strings of Melbourne; Camerata Orchestra; Melbourne City Opera; and The Australian Classical Players, amongst many others. He also performed and recorded with contemporary music groups like Cydonia, and re-sound; and he played viola with a number of string quartets and chamber ensembles.

Jason has held positions as a String Instrumental Music Teacher and a Teacher’s Aide at various primary and high schools, and the Victorian State Schools Southern Region Music Camp. He has also taught and performed with a number of private music schools.
Presently, Jason conducts his own private teaching practice where he instructs students on the violin and viola, as well as music theory and composition.
